The BC Cancer Summit 2021 was a successful online event comprised of disciplines all across the oncology field.

The BC Cancer Summit was held virtually this year because of Covid 19. The University of Toronto has been engaged to administer the Summit, and will use its platform, Pheedloop, to hold the event. Pheedloop, along with other tools used to hold the event, such as Zoom, Clickmeeting and Pure Chat may collect information about you that meets the definition of personal information. The collection of your personal information is authorized by section 26(c) of the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Your registration information will be shared with the University of Toronto and uploaded into Pheedloop. When you log into Pheedloop, you will have the option of updating your profile information to include additional details about yourself, such as adding a photo. Adding additional information to your profile is optional. If you choose to take part in networking during the event, it will be possible to use the platform to message other attendees. We encourage you not to enter any sensitive personal information into this networking feature. Please note that networking is optional. Upon registering for the event through Survey Monkey, you may choose to opt out. This will result in your name not being listed in the attendees list and your profile information within Pheedloop not being visible to other attendees.

Several of the tools used to hold the event may also collect information about the device that you use to access Pheedloop or attend the Summit. This may include IP address, proxy server, MAC address, operating system, web browser and general location data. If you ask questions during the sessions, your name and question details may be collected by Zoom or Clickmeeting.

Your attendance, including when you enter and exit sessions, will be tracked for the purpose of issuing certificates of completion for the event. These certificates can be used to claim professional credits directly with your accreditation organization.

Please note that some tools used to hold the event may store information collected outside of Canada. Order 431 allows for the disclosure of personal information inside or outside Canada through the use of third party tools or applications which support and maintain the activities of a public body during Covid 19.
